Just a Saturday and Recap

Today was kind of chill. Beau and I played in what was left of the snow. That lasted about 5 minutes because he totally busted on the ice underneath. Luckily he's become such a big boy about it, he just got up and when I asked if he was okay, he said "O-tay". But he was done playing. So we went to McDonalds to use a giftcard we had and to let him play. He's getting so big! He just runs around just like the other kids; almost makes me sad. But I'm so grateful for each stage we have with him, it brings new experiences and new challenges. I love that his verbal skills are increasing and we can really start to converse more with him. Discipline has become an everyday thing, but while sometimes it can be hard in the moment, I'm starting to see glimpses of why we're doing this. He's starting to learn that we're the authority over him and Brandon and I feel that's just so essential in him understanding that God is the authority over us all. We're also working on having a servant's heart. He picks up his own toys and he helps with things around the house (as much as he can) in practice to understand how important it is to be a servant. Our newest learning with God is a building off of answers. We start with "Who wrote/inspired the Bible?" God. "Who's God's son?" Jesus. "And Jesus is our?" Savior. He's really starting to understand and it's so exciting to see him say his answers with such excitement. (He usually jumps up and down with each answer) So, that's a quick recap of where we are with Beau, so enjoy some quick pics of him!

Fun with Best Buds

After having been cooped up in the house all week, Beau and I made our way over to our buddies' house today. Emily and Jackson had invited us over for the day and we were so excited! We were gonna make cupcakes with the boys and it was too fun to see their sweet faces, both when we were making them and definitely when they were eating them! We love our friends so much and enjoy playing with them all the time!

 Eating breakfast and so happy!

At the table getting ready

The game players

Pouring the mix in

They did so great!

 Being so helpful!

The mommas helping their boys pour in the cups

They SO wanted to eat them right then

Admiring their handy work, ready to put them in the oven

Beau thinks they're a winner...

so he's going back for seconds.

Jackson thinks so too...

See? That's the "cupcakes are good" face.

All our bowls of fun, homemade icing.

Yum. The all green one went to Brandon. It's Lehrmann & Jackson green. :)

Yummy homemade icing bowl.

Beau was ready for a nap after all that chocolatey-icingy goodness.

Later we went home and cuddled and watched a movie together. What a nice time!

Snow Surprise

I look out my window and what do I see but...

SNOW!!

I love watching snow fall, it's so pretty. It leaves almost a blanket of quiet on the world. And we all need to just stop sometimes and be quiet. Snow reminds me of that. I know, weird connection. But anyway, it's snowing!

Brandon and I Made A...

Cake! Silly people, you, for a split second, thought I was gonna say...well, you know. And you're right. We did make one of those. He's turning two in May. But this post starts on something else we made together. Namely, cinnamon sugar graham cake with vanilla buttercream icing. I had a hankering to get in the kitchen today (as I honestly do most days), but was really wanting to enjoy some time with Brandon as Beau had gone to spend the day (and now, the night) with his beloved Gran, Pops, and Lulu. So, after seeing if Brandon would come into the kitchen and being so excited to get a "yes," I started pulling out ingredients. Let me tell you, never let Brandon fool you again, this kid can crush graham crackers like nobody's business! ;) He helped make the cake and then ate the beaters from the icing. That's help in my book. So here's the finished product, it looked pretty (I added some red food coloring to the icing for a Valentine's Day theme) and tasted REALLY good! I can't wait until Beau comes home so I can snap a few pictures of him trying some!

Yum. Icing.

Crushed graham crackers with a few red and white sprinkles just for that "Valentine" feel

Oh yeah. This is the best part of making cakes, right?

Tonight we braved the weather (ha, I say that almost jokingly because it really wasn't that bad) and went and saw the Beauster. I tell ya, just being away from this guy for a day makes me miss him so much! He is just the sweetest thing and I'm SO looking forward to some major reading/cuddle time tomorrow after I pick him up!

Our Snow Day

Today was a snow day! It was actually Brandon's day off anyway, but having it so cold outside made for a fun day! I've still been feeling pretty yucky and my nose is pretty much raw from blowing it so much, but I really think I've passed the midpoint and am working my way to feeling better. Beau was happy as could be today and I'll let the pictures explain why...

Lunch: Homemade Chicken Tortilla Soup

...With some hotdog and ketchup of course!

Now for some reading with Dad

While Mom started the chicken and veggies to go into the bisque for dinner

All that food and reading wore us out! Nap time!

I'm up and ready to go with my juice in hand!

Oy. Ate too much dinner. Very full.

Think I'll go read some more...I just LOVE reading!

Dad was a total sweetie and helped with the dishes!

A little tug-of-war with Huck sounds fun!

Whew! I need a bath after that battle!

Blowing "bubbles"

And LOTS of splashing!

Now, just a snack of a garlic cheddar biscuit with butter and...

He's out!

We really enjoyed getting to have everyone in the same house ALL day long; that's a MAJOR rarity at our house! Tomorrow is Brandon's other day off, so I plan on getting in a little more rest before the rest of the week when he's back to his 13 hour days. I'm going to get a splint on Thursday for some TMJ issues, so hopefully with that and this cold going away, Beau and I can start moving and grooving again! Hope everyone enjoyed the day off and stayed warm!
