To Sylvie Kate, on your 1st birthday

Dear Sylvie Kate,

My my, my youngest is now one. Happy birthday, darling! These are some things I want to remember about you turning one.

You are a go-getter. You have striven to do everything your siblings do and you've done it at lightning speed! You crawled right around 7 months and by 9 1/2 months, you were walking! It kind of scared me to see you walking and being so little, but that didn't stop you! You climb and inch your way onto any and everything; I can't imagine what this next year will hold!

You are a mama's girl. I imagine part of that has to do with nursing, but we'll see what the future holds. You are my most motivated nurser as well. I foresee us nursing for several more months, further than your siblings went.

You like books. You and Cora will sit and flip through books while I work with Beau. I hope that will develop more as you grow older.

You are a silly girl! You make the funniest faces and sounds; they crack us up! You also are sneaky; if we don't keep our eyes on you, the second we turn away you'll be into something. I'm going to have to stay on my toes around you.

You are not the best sleeper. You still like to get up several times at night to nurse and I have a feeling you're going to be like your siblings and not sleep well until you turn two, but hopefully you'll surprise me!

You like to eat, but only certain things, You're not a huge milk fan, but you drink water well. I'm so glad for this! Water is such a good thing for your body. You like fruits and you'll eat veggies well, but not so much on the meat.

You love your family. You are starting to interact more with all of us and we see how much you care for us! You love hugging on your dad and me, you like snuggling with Beau and Cora, and you will run out to Pops, Gran, and Meme.

You are starting to form more words. You talk your own language much of the time, but you know so many simple words; mom, dad, bo, co (Cora), pah (Pops), dat (that), pee (please), yes, no, moh (more), and several others. We can definitely figure out what you're wanting most of the time.

I love you my sweet Sylvie Kate, I hope you know how much I love you, how much your dad loves you, how much your siblings love you, but ultimately how much the Lord loves you! HAppy 1st birthday my precious Sylvie Kate!

Love,
Mommy

To Beau Elias, on your 5th birthday

Dear Beau,

Happy 5th birthday my buddy! I tell you, as our oldest child, I see that time just continues to fly in rearing children. It seems each year goes by faster and faster with you and this year was no exception. There are several things I want to note about this past year with you and my prayers for the coming year.

Some little things of note but things I like to look back on anyway are that your favorite colors are blue and green. If you can find a way to make whatever you're doing, creating, wearing etc., blue and green it's a winner. You've even wanted your birthday party to be themed just blue and green; let me tell you as a mom how thankful I am for that request because, as you might see through your own wife if you marry and have children, this was an easy request to grant! You like running and climbing on EVERYTHING, so much so that you often have to reminded or reprimanded for jumping/climbing on things you know you're not supposed to be on. You have so much energy! I wish I had more than a fraction to keep up, but I am amazed at how you're always on the go with seemingly endless amounts of energy. You like to act out scenes from shows you may have watched (you currently enjoy Ben10 and all the characters from that) or even just creating your own plots.

One of your best playmates in all of this is your sister, Cora. You two are becoming closer playmates more and more each day and I look on with such joy in the moments you two are depending on one another to create fun. With Cora, you are a sweet big brother, although while no other children can fuss at Cora, you definitely give her a time sometimes. I keep praying you'll begin or take note of the beauty in sibling relationships and realize just how much Cora does and will continue to look to you for safety, assurance, and counsel. Being the oldest sibling in my own family growing up, I now see what an important role I played and see how I sometimes succeeded immensely and sadly other times failed miserably. I see a strong, leadership quality in you and not only that, but a protective nature. Continue to nurture these God-given qualities Beau; you're a fantastic big brother when you allow yourself to be. :)

You also became a big brother for the second time, to your sister Sylvie Kate born just a few months ago. Daddy and I didn't find out if she was going to be a boy or girl and so when we brought you in after she was born to tell you that she was, indeed, a girl, you replied, "Well, I was really hoping it was a boy." I know how much you wanted a brother but I want to tell you how much your help around the house, help with both of your sisters, and your swift response to my need for your aide has meant. Again, I can see what an amazing father you might make someday. You cuddle Sylvie Kate, kiss on her, and are so willing to give her "huggins and lovins;" I just know she's going to attach to you as she gets older. Again though Beau, realize that is a blessing and an opportunity to show Christ's love to her.

You've finished preschool and we're moving on to kindergarten. Daddy and I prayed and talked for several years and came to a conclusion that we are going to homeschool you next year. I'm nervous and excited for this new adventure we'll be on; you're such a quick learner and so smart (you blow us away with your intellect all the time!), that I'm curious to see how this next year goes.

You are so proficient in the word. I see time and time again confirmation that the Lord has given you a gift in understanding and being able to recall scripture. We get comments all the time from Bible class teachers how you are very outspoken in class and are always adding to the discussion. I continue to pray for this to grow in you, but also that you see scripture as not just stories and words to read, but testimonies and a promise fulfilled; these words are active and moving and they are a beautiful display of God showing us that He is who He says He is and that He does what He promises to do. Let that realization flow over you buddy and paired with your knowledge, there is no telling the reach you could have for His kingdom.

My one big concern in all of this though, something that can often be your biggest asset but other times be your biggest downfall, is your emotional nature. You feel everything. If someone hurts, you feel it, if someone is joyous, you feel it. This can be a beautiful attribute in ministering to others but I notice how often your biggest emotion comes through your anger. You can get so angry so quickly and it often becomes destructive, whether through you throwing something, saying something, or hurting someone. Beau, when you start feeling a welling up, please remember you have a choice, that the Lord has given us a spirit of power, and that you can choose to let this anger rule you OR you can choose to overpower it. I want you to know in saying this I don't expect perfection, nor does the Lord, but He (and I) do expect you to desire to overcome your anger and walk in expectation that you will. Trust in God's promises and see that He can and will come to your aide when you feel you can't do this on your own.

Beau bear, you are such a blessing to me. I love the discussions we're beginning to have, watching you continue to become a "kid" and away from a "toddler". You're passion inspires me, your giggles make me smile, your hugs melt me, and your prayers bring me to my knees. I love you so very much buddy, and know there isn't a day that goes by that I don't thank the Lord that He let me be your mom. Happy 5th birthday, my tough, fierce, bold boy.

Love,
Mom

To Cora Fair, on your 2nd birthday

Dear Cora,

You are turning two! What a fun year this has been to watch you grow. You are becoming quite a girl and this year has shown to be such a year of advancement for you. I've watched you start forming your personality and I cant wait to see what this next year holds in store for you. There are some things Id especially like to remember about you at this stage.

You are my creative child. You could spend your days just painting, coloring, and drawing. Anytime someone pulls out crayons, paints, paper, or even just a pencil, you're wanting to draw. You sing and dance all day long. Whether it's a hymn, a song from preschool, a song from the radio, or one you've simply come up with on your own, you're singing all the time. Your dad and I often smile when driving in the car because we can hear you singing while gazing out the window. You come up with your own dances and anytime you hear a good beat, you're swinging your hips. You especially are fond of your "Nakey Dance" where anytime you or anyone else in the house is getting ready or has taken a shower, you start singing and dancing saying, "Nakey So-and-so." I love that about you. I love that you can always find a reason to sing and always think there's something to be created. I hope you never stop thinking that.

You love to read. If I were to set a huge pile of books in front of you, you would spend your day asking someone to read to you then flipping through them yourself. Your my child that I can read to for hours, and you never tire of it. You adore Brown Bear, Where's Spot, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, and so many others. You enjoy reading your Bible. We'll read through your daily story and you'll ask if we can read it again. Anytime you see a picture of a book on anything, you assume it's a Bible. I'll often find you in your room, flipping through pages, retelling stories as much as you can. It's such a sweet sight.

You are such a smart girl. This year you've learned your ABCs, can count to 13, know your colors and body parts, and have just learned the 12 sons of Jacob. You know everyone's name, including your own, but also love referring to yourself as "Coco." I never dreamed your nickname would be that, but it seems to fit your personality. :) You've also learned your first memory verse; "In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth. Genesis 1:1." I'm so amazed at how quickly you learn and your vocabulary is quite extensive. You are constantly coming up to me with a new phrase. Right now you'll come up and say, "Hey guys, whatcha doing?" You floor me with all you've learned this year; it makes me a little nervous to think how far along you'll be in another two years! But also so excited that you love to learn.

You are a girly girl. You love to run in your room in the mornings and decide what to wear. You like dresses and getting your hair fixed. You like shoes and make-up. Sometimes I catch you playing in my make-up and we have to make a quick trip to the sink to wash you. You'll find your brother's chapstick and will put it on your lips over and over again. You adore getting your nails painted. I've had to discipline you a couple times for getting into my nail polish after telling you to let it be. But you relish the times when you sit in my bathroom and we pull out all the different nail colors and you get to decide which to put on that time. I am so excited that you're so girly; it makes me very happy to think of all the girly things we can do together as you get older.

You're a prayerful gal. You know what it means to pray and you remind me to pray. You'll join in at prayer time whether it's at the dinner table or in your bed. You tell me that you love Jesus and girl, that makes my heart soar. It's a constant prayer of mine that you come to know and serve Him. My training with you is focused on turning to Him and going out and telling others about Him. Know that He created you, and that He created you for a purpose. This life is not your own and it's so fleeting; use the talents and qualities He's given you to further His kingdom. There will be times that I let you down as a mother and for that I'm apologizing for the past and in advance for the future. It breaks my heart to know I have and will do this but Cora, that's why it is SO important for you to know there's a God, the one true God, that will NEVER let you down. Turn to Him; He's waiting.

You are your daddy's girl. You squeal with delight when he comes through the door after work. You will barely let him out of your sight when he's home. You wake up in the middle of the night and come in our room simply (I think) so you can snuggle up to him. You get all dressed up and ask him to tell you how pretty you are (and he happily obliges). Remember though, "Pretty is as pretty does." I say this over and over to you to remind you that although indeed you are a beautiful little girl, that it won't matter much unless you're beautiful on the inside as well.

You became a big sister this year! Just a little over three months ago your sister Sylvie Kate joined our family. You have LOVED being a big sister to her and I can see your maternal instincts when you interact with her. You want so badly to hold her and I catch you interacting with your babies as if they were your sister. You run to tell her "Good Morning" when you wake up and I just know that in the coming years, you two are going to be the best of friends.

You and Beau are forming your relationship with each other. This brings the good, bad, and the ugly. There are times that you two play together and it's the sweetest sight, but there are also times that you two fight and attack one another and that's when I have to step in. In the end though, you look up to Beau in the best of ways, and copy so much of what he does and says. I know you're going to be so thankful for a big brother as you grow; I always wished I had had a big brother as a child.

You are a dramatic child. This can mean using different voices to make us laugh or it can mean you throwing yourself and sobbing over little things. While I enjoy the funny voices and ways you act out stories to me, the drama when you get told "no" is something I know we have to set straight now or will be a source of frustration as you get older. Remember there's a time and place for acting and making scenes; being told "no" is not one of them.

You are a jokester! You love telling jokes and making up silly things to say. You'll change your voice and tell me things just to make me laugh. I'm so glad you have a great sense of humor, that will be something to cling to when life gets hard.

Cora, I love you so very much and love being your mama. My prayer for you in the coming year is to continue learning of the Lord, continue absorbing the world around you, take in all the beauty God gave us, and then breathe it out by creating something beautiful. God loves seeing your attitude towards life; you wake up smiling.

Happy birthday precious girl, I love you.

Love,
Mama

Cora Fair is 18 months!

Cora Fair is 18 months old! Each day seems to be a day where she learns something new, says something new, or just has us finding something new to love about her. Here are some things I want to remember about the girl at this age:

* Cora, you are so funny! You enjoy making funny faces, doing silly dances, and making silly sounds. Pretty much anything you can do to get us laughing, you're up for it.
* You are our carb eater! You enjoy bread, pasta, rice, chips, basically any form of carb. Lately it has gotten to be such a chore to have to take in fruit or veggies, but your mom is persistent (and tricky), so we still manage to get them in. I'm truly hoping this gets easier, for a mom who likes her fruits and veggies, this has been tough.
* You adore reading. You are constantly bringing books to us to read you and you can sit for long periods of time so long as someone is reading to you. I happen to LOVE this quality of yours.
* Elmo and Abby are it for you right now. Whether a coloring book, a video, a stuffed animal, book, or anything else that might have them on it, you are all about it.
* You jabber all the time! Many times we're not totally sure what you're saying, but we're confident you know. You can say at least 30-40 words, know all your basic body parts plus some special ones like your knees and neck, say phrases like "Love you" (with sign language at the same time), "More, please" (also with signage), and "Thank you". You've also decided to call yourself "Coco" since you can't say Cora yet.
* You enjoy Bible class and especially Bible songs! Daddy and I have continued with you what we started with Beau by singing hymns to you all the time, most specifically hearing the two of us at night. That, along with the songs you hear in class or at school, are your favorites. You're also very intent on prayer at mealtime and say a resounding "Amen!" when we finish.
* You've done so great in school! You adore your teacher, Mrs. Becky, and she adores you. I know I'll never have any issue with dropping you off when she's there, you reach out as soon as you see her.
* You're a very girly girl and enjoy taking care of your babies. You request your "pretties" (perfume) to be put on each day, get very excited about what clothing and bow you'll wear, and often have at least one baby in your arms. I'm thankful you like babies since your new sibling will be here in 8-9 weeks!
* You've reached that 18 month stage of testing boundaries and fit throwing. With you being our second child, we knew this was coming and are much quicker to resolve it. It's been a bit hard on you, but I already know this is something we'll get through.
* You wear 12-18 month clothing, between size 3-4 shoes, weigh 20.1 lbs, are 30.5 in, with an 18 in head circumference.

We adore you sweet girl and embrace each moment with you!

To Beau Elias, on Your 4th Birthday!

Dear Beau,

It's your fourth birthday and what a year this has been for you! In a phrase, this would definitely be a year of change and trials. This year you found out what being a big brother is all about and let me say, you have been such a wonderful brother! You love your sister fiercely and are very protective. You remind everyone that she's your baby sister and you're one to always attempt to calm her when she's upset. I look forward to what the next year holds for you two; I see a wonderful friendship in store.

Three was a tough year as far as discipline goes. We struggled a lot this year and sadly not too many days went by without a spank. I think much of that had to do with learning to have attention shared between you and your sister, an expanding vocabulary, and a wonderful (although challenging) advancing in the understanding of exercising independence. There were some days I think both of us were just glad to make it through, but as we exit you being three, I'm seeing much of what we've been discussing and instilling in you bearing fruit. I hope for the both of us that four is a little better in that area; I think you and I both spent many days sad.

For all the hard discipline there was, there was also such an emergence in your questioning of the world. You're beginning to see the world as being a part of it, and have been curious about everything! I love listening to your ideas and trying my best to answer your questions. You experienced death from someone you knew, Ms. Sandy, and that shook you and made you ask us many questions. Know that your dad and I answered them with what we believe to be truth and also know we NEVER want you to feel you can't ask a question. The Lord has given you a mind to discover and question and challenge and we want to be there to encourage you. We may not always have an answer or have an answer that you're hoping for, but we will always seek with you and will always pray for wisdom with you.

You're such a tender soul! I think I've said this each year, but it's just because if how true it is. You are such a sweet boy. We see you wanting to include others, we see you hurt when there is someone else hurting, and we see you take personal hurts deeply. While sometimes we have to remind you not to take some hurts so personally, in regards to your outlook for other people in this world, I pray your tenderness for their well being will only further your work in The Lord.

You get the Word! You hear a message and you take it to heart. I wish I was like that  in some cases. You encourage and motivate to live out God's message fully and passionately. Hearing your prayers and seeing your response to the message leaves your dad and me occasionally speechless, stunned by your genuine honesty and love for Jesus. Know how much we love that live you hold for Jesus, Beau, and know we will do all in our power to help further encourage that relationship.

You are such a blessing in our lives, Beau. You're a wonderful follower of Jesus, son, and big brother. Last week daddy and I found out we'll be having another baby in January.  I just know this new one will be blessed by you as well. You're funny, smart, loving, honest, and devoted. I just can't say enough about how much I love being your mother.

Happy 4th birthday my Beauster!

Love,
Mom

To Cora Fair, on your first birthday

Dear Cora Fair,

Today is your birthday! So many have told me how fast the second time around goes and it appears that is so true. Your first year of birth flew by and now, looking at you as our one year old, I am amazed at the speed of time. There are so many things I want to remember about you at this age, so I figure here is a great place to write them down.

You are such a jokester! You have such a great time "laughing" until someone else laughs, scrunching your nose up to get a laugh, or just being silly. You enjoy having attention on you, but as a child that came into the world already having to share that, I understand. You're loud, but the kind of loud that is sweet, and just normally wanting to let someone know where you are, or wonder where they might be. You adore pictures, especially of people you know, and will instantly want to go to our refrigerator in the mornings to stare at the pictures on the door.

You are our eater! It's hardly ever a challenge to get you to eat, unless you're sick, and you can be highly motivated by food. Some of your favorite foods are broccoli, green beans, squeezable fruit, Pringles (ha!), and anything chocolate. You are definitely your mom's girl in that area, although in this year we've seen how dairy just does not agree with you, so providing sweets was a challenge, but one we've made work (and work well!).

You adore music. Whether it's a toy you have, a song on the radio, or us singing at home, you get to moving. It's so sweet! Even when you get upset, it seems music is a comfort to you. Your dad and I started singing hymns as a way of comfort with your brother, and have continued to do the same with you. I pray you'll find a love of hymns, as they are so good for the soul and a wonderful way to worship.

You love your family! You love Beau, and quite honestly, he loves you more than I can say! You two have the sweetest relationship and while as you're now getting older and we're starting to have some arguments, at the end of the day, you two are in each other's corner. Your brother protects you and defends you, he thanks God for you, and can't wait to see you when he's been away from you. He reminds you of God's truth (letting your yes be yes, for example) and I just pray you two can be a source of love, encouragement, and strength as you walk your way for The Lord in this life. I think your brother will be such an aide in your spiritual growth, and I pray you'll hear him out when he has truth to speak. Although siblings will have their moments, remember you two share a special bond.

You love your Daddy! You light up when he gets home from work and almost run to the door to meet him. He was your first word and is probably the most often said word. I can't blame you though, he's a wonderful man, and will truly be the first glimpse of how you see how men should treat ladies. Your dad is one that is passionate about a true faith and I think that will cause him to challenge you to discover your faith through your own eyes. I hope you see his intentions are to find a genuine love for The Lord in your own discovery of His word. He is a dad that will love you no matter what, and at any cost. He will fight for you, beside you, and with you. He will pray for you, hope for you, and believe in you. Know that while everyone has a dad, you my love, have a wonderful one. Remember that when you become a teenager. :)

You love your mama and I love this! Quite honestly, I was a little nervous about having a daughter, but seeing you, being with you day in day out, has made me realize what a gift there is in having a daughter. I want you to know that I will love you at all cost, and sadly, that I will al you at times, but that I will always seek forgiveness and seek the Lord's ways. The snuggles and kisses I get from you are so precious to me and I love our time together. You're "the girl" at our house, and I would never want it any other way.

You're a walking (since 10 months), babbling (since 7 months), chewing (teeth came in at ten months; we didn't know if you would gnaw your first cake or what!) little girl that everyone adores. I can't wait to see what this next year holds in store for you.

Happy 1st birthday Cora Fair!

Love,
Mama

To Beau, On Your 3rd Birthday

My precious Beau Elias: Today you are turning three - and again I find myself wondering how that is possible?! This year has been such a year of growth and change for you. You went to Thursday school for the first time, got potty trained, and became a BIG brother! The leaps and bounds by which you have moved this year just astounds your dad and me. You talk so plainly and we often get compliments on how clearly people can understand you, as well as how polite and well-mannered you are. It's so neat for me to be able to sit and have conversations with you - and I'm so thankful you'll have them with me! Sometimes, when playing or taking a walk outside, you'll ask if we can just "sit and talk." I treasure those moments with you because in those times, you allow me to see the world through your eyes. You are so smart! I started doing some simple lessons with you this year in regards to letter recognition, counting, colors, and Bible. You now can recognize almost every letter in the alphabet (you have a hard time occasionally with the letter D), can count to 20, know all your colors, and know FAR more in regards to the Bible than I knew at your age. You're actually so quick to catch on that your dad and I have had to look at lessons to challenge you because you seemed bored with most Bible lessons tailored to your age. It amazes us to see you learn so much about your Bible, but we're even prouder when we see you using what you learn in life situations or connect people's names to characters in the Bible. You are wonderful at reminding us to pray at mealtime and you and I always pray a blessing over you before you go to sleep - I think you really like hearing that each night. :) You started going to school once a week this year and did terrific! I think we were a little hesitant at first since it was always you and me, but you seemed to really blossom socially this year, and I think we attribute a good portion of that to putting you with other children during the week. You even made friends on your own, which is something that completely caught us by surprise. It was such a joy to hear you tell me about your days at school and mention the other children in your class and hear you call them your friends - although you're such a sweet buddy, it really should come as no surprise how people would want to be your friend. Just 12 days ago, you became a big brother! Your sister Cora Fair was born on the 15th of this month, so much of being two for you was wrapped up in Mommy's pregnancy. I want you to know how wonderfully you handled it, especially since I didn't feel well often with this pregnancy. There would be times where I needed to lay in bed and you would be so agreeable to that, and would grab books out of your playroom and hop in bed with me and read - I want you to know I'm so thankful for your attitude in those moments. You've been the best big brother and completely adore your sister. You'll sit and watch her and it seems as if she's the only thing in the world to you. You love giving her sugars and hate seeing her cry. Many times you'll ask us if she's crying because she misses you and run over and kiss her and tell her you're there. We see how loving you are and how God has put such a tenderness in your spirit. You've had your moments of frustration with Daddy and I in all the newness and have even thrown a toy or two (to which you were immediately disciplined), but after hearing the toy hit your sister, would fall apart and just sob. In those times your dad and I see just how much you care for her, that it breaks your heart to think of her being hurt - I pray that fierce dedication to her well-being will permeate your relationship throughout both of your lives. As with this age, there have been hard moments. With greater communication sometimes comes greater resistance. Daddy and I have really had to increase our awareness of discipline with you. You're a stubborn child (although your dad and I both are as well, so you just didn't have a chance), so often our discipline with you comes down to your unwillingness to let go of an issue. You're a tender soul, so often it just takes some firm talking out of what's wrong in the situation and taking it to a scriptural point and then "making it right." However, sometimes a spanking is required. No matter how we discipline you, we always end with a hug and reaffirming our love for you. I think you count on this, as it seems to help you feel reassurance that our discipline is not based in anger, but in love for you and your soul. Beau Elias, you bring so much joy to me. You are my first-born, my son, my "Beauster." I thank God for allowing me to be your mother and can't wait to see what three holds in store for you. No matter what, I pray you will seek His kingdom and His will for your life - you were made by Him and for Him, never forget that. I loved you yesterday, I love you today, I will love you always. Love, Mom

To Beau, On Your 2nd Birthday

My sweet Beau Elias:

Today is your second birthday; where has the time gone? This year has been so amazing and we have seen such strides made in your development and are seeing your personality form before our very eyes. I'm amazed at the little boy you are and am continually surprised by the amount of learning I get from YOU. This year you've really made me focus on patience, on taking time to really instruct you and discipline you in a manner in which is effective, but not out of anger. You can be very stubborn and judging from who your parents are, its not hard to see why you're like that. I work very intently to nurture the good aspects of that all the while being diligent to break the destructive parts of that behavior. You're a curious child. You want to see and know everything and have no fear when it comes to jumping off or climbing up anything. You dad and I will talk for a second being outside with you and as soon as we look over, you're scaling the fence. You're definitely going to be our risk-taker child if you stay the course you're on, so we're just preparing ourselves. You are so smart! It amazes me the way you put things (both physically and mentally) together and the new words that come out of your mouth in just the right way. You can count to ten, know your colors, know your shapes (even a pentagon, go figure!), and know quite a few Bible facts. Your ability to absorb information just astounds me, so I'm trying to balance teaching you as much as I can and pushing you without completely overwhelming you to the point of shutting down. But know that your mother thinks you are brilliant! You're very conscious of others feelings. The other day when I was crying you looked at Daddy very concerned and said, "Mommy, so sad. So sad, Mommy. It's ok." You gave me lots of hugs and kisses without even being asked. You're very affectionate and its something I just adore about you. I love dialogging with you. In the mornings you'll tell me "Good morning" followed by "Hi Mommy. Whatcha doing?" When I tell you what I'm doing and ask what you're doing, you usually reply, "Hanging out." You're so funny! You and I spend lots of time laughing together. You're like your mom in that you don't go to bed early and don't like to rise early. You seem to prefer the night-owl lifestyle. I was like that a lot as a kid too, so it doesn't surprise me too much. If you would have your way, you'd stay up until 11 or so at night and wake up around 9 in the morning; sad for you we have had to curb that. You also are a monkey in the bed! You roll from one end to the next! Since we're still working on getting your reflux back on track, we've had some hard nights, but typically for your dad and I you wake up at least once in the night. It's totally ok with us at this point, we've come to the realization this is just how you operate. Your dad and I had tried taking you off your reflux meds to see if you still needed them and lo and behold, you do. Hopefully it's something you'll grow out of soon though. You're a picky eater (at least for us). You LOVE fruits, but are not much a fan of meat and carbs. You also like veggies pretty well, but fruit is by far your favorite. You love milk (esp. since us taking you off the reflux meds), but also like your sitter's decaf iced tea, grape juice, fruit punch, apple juice and the packets of sugar-free pink lemonade we stick into your water. You're learning to be a sharer and have quite the outgoing personality (another trait you get from your dad). You have a love for the Lord that is unspeakably precious. At night you often roll back and forth whispering, "Good night, Jesus." You also do tremendously well with your memory verses and will make sure everyone prays before we eat. I see such potential to form a servant's heart in you and your dad and I are taking steps to really foster that.

Beau, I could go on and on about you, but what I want you to understand is this: you are such a blessing to everyone you meet. Whether or not you know it, so many are blessed by you. I am constantly learning from you in regards to forgiveness and trust. While I pray for you and aim to foster your relationship with our Lord, I want you to know how much you have aided in my own relationship with my Lord. I can't imagine where this next year will take us and to be truthful, I'm learning more and more to just enjoy each moment I have with you. I've learned to not worry so much about dishes, or dusting (although they still get done), because this time I have with you is something that I won't get back. And I don't want to miss a minute of it. I love you to the moon and back, my precious Beau Elias. Happy Birthday, darling.

Love,
Mommy

S'mores

We have a fire pit in our back yard from when Brandon and I got married, and tonight Beau wanted to make a fire. So, I got some marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate and POOF!; we were in business. Beau had a great time holding the sticks, roasting mallows and once I made a s'more...he was in love. I'll let the pictures tell the story, but tonight was such a night of fun memories! Tomorrow's the big birthday!

27!

Today is my 27th birthday. I got to sleep in, then woke up and played around with my guys. My sweet son actually told me "Happy Birthday, Mommy!" That was one of the best parts of today. I went to a meeting with the Cleburne Pregnancy Center today about doing some peer counseling for them. Really great meeting, seems like there are some really wonderful things going on there. The plan is for me to do my volunteering on Wednesday when our office is closed so Brandon's not missing me working and Beau's still with us (the volunteer work is only for 4 hours). I've been feeling this call for awhile to get back into serving and this organization seems to have a lot of opportunity for me to really be of service. I talked with Brandon about it and I think we both feel this will be a wonderful opportunity to minister to others. After my meeting my sweet friend Emily took me to lunch at Purple Turnip and it was so fun! We don't get too many opportunities to spend time just the two of us, so it was such a joy to get to spend some girl time together. After that I spent time with the boys, particularly Beau since Brandon had to do some work. That Beauster and I had so much fun and spent a good portion of our time just laughing! My MIL came and got Beau so Brandon and I could do our annual IHOP meal for my birthday. The pictures below will show our time, but its something I look forward to every year. After our meal we hopped into Target and I got to get some lounging pants and a couple comfy (and cute!) tees that were on sale for my birthday  - what a sweet hubs! We also got Beau his gifts from us that we'll be giving him on his actual birthday. We finished the night by tucking that sweet baby in bed and I've been updating my pictures and updating the blog. I'm so grateful for all the sweet messages, calls, and texts I got today; it truly humbles me how loving people are. Now we're just in excitement mode for the Beauster's birthday - I CAN'T believe he's going to be TWO!

My IHOP dinner - nutella and banana crepes with strawberries and whipped cream - YUM (with coffee of course!)

Brandon's IHOP meal - sunny-side up eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, and stuffed cinnamon raisin french toast, and coffee

My card...

Ha! Love those boys!

My sweet hubs

 Love this guy!

Yup, we cleared 'em! (well, I ALMOST cleared mine, but Brandon finished it) I've been told calories don't count on your birthday...right? :)

Petting Zoo fun!

Today Cleburne had Springfest. Luckily, with Brandon's office being downtown, we had access to a great parking spot. There were lots of vendors and food out and we were having a pretty good time until...the petting zoo. We had walked down to the plaza downtown and saw a petting zoo. Instantly we knew Beau was going to love it. So we paid the $3 admission and he and Brandon went in. And they stayed in. For quite awhile. Beau just LOVED seeing and petting all the different animals. After this, he was pretty much spent, so we left, ate lunch, and let him take a nap. That boy loves his animals!
