Petting Zoo fun!

Today Cleburne had Springfest. Luckily, with Brandon's office being downtown, we had access to a great parking spot. There were lots of vendors and food out and we were having a pretty good time until...the petting zoo. We had walked down to the plaza downtown and saw a petting zoo. Instantly we knew Beau was going to love it. So we paid the $3 admission and he and Brandon went in. And they stayed in. For quite awhile. Beau just LOVED seeing and petting all the different animals. After this, he was pretty much spent, so we left, ate lunch, and let him take a nap. That boy loves his animals!

Parental Learning Continues and More Memories

So on Monday of this week Beau stayed with our friend and her little girl. When we went to pick him, Angie said she had the funniest thing to tell us. A little background, whenever something on Beau hurts, he always asks Mommy to "kiss it" because of course Mommy's kisses make everything better, right? :) Well when he woke up from his nap, his boy part apparently was hurting some from waking (I totally don't get that, but apparently Brandon totally understands this), and he told Angie, "It hurts. Tiss it." Angie basically had to stifle her laughter and said, "I know it may hurt but it'll go away soon." (She has 2 boys herself) I know that is totally crude, but it is just too random and funny to not put for me to remember later. (Sorry if I offended anyone!)

In other news, Beau turned flips Tuesday evening! He did it twice in the yard as we worked on cleaning out the flower bed in the front. I know now it's only a matter of time before he's flipping through the house if he's anything like his dad from the stories I've been told...

Beau also does the SWEETEST thing at night! When we lay together for him to go to sleep, he takes his bear, hugs onto it and rolls back and forth and whispers, "Goodnight, Jesus" over and over. It is the most precious thing and pretty much impossible to not smile and just want to kiss his face off! He has the most tender heart and I am so excited to see where that will lead him in life.

Well, that's all for now. We went and played at one of the school's playgrounds tonight with friends but towards the end, Beau started feeling bad. Earlier in the day he has spiked a little fever, but it had gone down before we went. We'll see how tonight goes, I'm thinking/hoping its just some random occurrence that'll be over with by tomorrow. Hope for him, anyway! Good night!

Zoo with Mommy

Beau and I went to the zoo today for half price day! I was SO excited, but unfortunately Beau wasn't as excited as me. We had a good time, but Beau was ready to go by the time we were done with lunch. Oh well, we still created a few precious memories. I love this little one so much, I enjoy any time I get to spend with him. We tried the Botanical Gardens after this, but he wasn't too crazy about that either. We ended up spending the rest of the day hanging back at home. Oh well, enjoy some special moments from our time at the zoo!

Yummy Mexican Food

Tonight the boys mowed the yard while I made homemade Mexican stack-ups. I made them a little healthier using ground turkey, my own spices, brown rice, black beans, green leafy lettuce, and low fat sour cream. They were so yummy and the boys ate it up after some hard yard work. Beau thoroughly enjoyed the yummy black beans and queso and Brandon went back for seconds and wanted thirds (but restrained).

Black beans are yum!

So are strawberries!

Water Hose

Beau and his daddy played outside with the water hose today. As you'll be able to see, they had SO much fun! These two are so special to me and I just LOVE watching them spend time together!

Gotcha Mommy!

Getting a drink; playing is hard work!

Things I Don't Want to Forget

Sorry, no pictures today. Camera had to charge. But Beau did two very adorable things today that I do NOT want to forget (also, Brandon demanded I record these and he rarely makes those kinds of requests).

  • Beau and Brandon often spend much of their time together wrestling, fighting, doing "manly" things. Many times Beau tries to do these same things with me, so we've been working on how we don't hit girls. Mommy is a girl. So we don't hit Mommy. We're talking about how we treat girls sweetly, that we love and pet on them. Well, after this particular lesson today, I asked if Beau understood what we were talking about. He firmly shouted, "yes ma'am!" Then proceeded to "honk" me. I'm pretty sure I don't have to explain exactly where he "honked" me, I'm assuming you can gather where. When I looked at him, mainly out of surprise, he smiled and said, "no hit!" We then proceeded to have a discussion on how we don't "honk" girls...
  • Beau and I went to the mall in Fort Worth after his nap today, mainly to get a change of scenery and walk around and see new things. Beau did really great, except for trying to take down (and I mean in a manly way) any mannequin he saw. So we mainly played on the indoor playground, which was great. He interacted with some kids and got a chance to be a little more social. I did manage to grab a couple of plain t-shirts to wear for under $9 total, and, being the gentleman we're rearing him to be, Beau wanted to carry my bag out (or maybe its just fun to carry a bag? I'll allow myself to believe the latter). While walking out to the car, he tripped and fell with a loud "UGG!" I picked him up, dusted him off, checked for blood and after finding none asked him, "Are you ok? Are you hurt?" Beau replies, "No. Tough, Mommy." That's my boy.
This guy is surprising us more and more everyday and I just LOVE it!

Diapers and Cuddles

We are now an official size 4 wearing diaper fam! We made the switch official today by buying the big box, and while he can still fit into size 3s ok, we think size 4s are going to be more comfy. Big boy!

The whole fam is sick, one way or another. Brandon's starting to get better, Beau's back and forth with the snottiness, and is having a hard time breathing at night, and today is the worse I've felt in a month. Thankfully, Beau knows cuddles are the best medicine!

Cuddles with his Daddy, who came home for a bit to help Mommy (thank you, thank you!)

Love this boy's kisses

Wanting to jump up and down

Ready to go for a very short walk

Hopefully we'll all be better by the weekend!

Markers and No Make-up

I still have some not-so-good feeling boys over here (and now I'm starting to feel icky...awesome), so all that to say that Beau hasn't been a big eater recently. He and I were playing after trying to get him to eat and when I got up to eat just a bit of my own dinner and came back in, this is what I found...

Thankfully, it's washable marker. Pretty sure I woulda been beside myself if it was permanent. Probably would've been googling "how to remove permanent marker from your child's body" rather than posting this. But it came off really easily with soap and water. But yep, not quite five minutes out of my sight and this is what we have. Oh twos, how you are fast approaching!

After his bath, he and I just had some fun with the camera. Yep, I have NO make-up on and need a shower myself, but I don't have too many pictures with this guy and I just don't want to look back and wish I had stopped to take some, make-up or not. So here we are, in our plain glory. :)

I had just gotten sugars! :)

This is him saying "Cheese!"

How lucky am I to have such a presh one?

"Lah you, Mommy"....Love YOU, Beau.

Mother's Day 2011

Today was Mother's Day and while, being truly  honest, I really don't care for this holiday, it was nice to spend some time with my son, just one on one. We played outside in the sand for awhile and now he's resting in my lap as we rock, because he's stuffed up. And I wouldn't change a thing (other than him feeling better). Beauster and I went with my in-laws and SIL to Crandall to hear Pepaw preach and it was so nice to get to spend time with them; its been over a month since we've seen them and I hadn't fully taken in how much I miss them! Brandon stayed at home because of an upper respiratory infection that has left him sounding and feeling TERRIBLE. I did, however, get a super sweet card from my boys along with a nice big bag of Peanut M&Ms. How lucky can a girl get? (I also received some amazing smelling perfume that SADLY busted in my car; sad day) Enjoy some pictures from my second year personally getting to celebrate this holiday!

This is what happens when you try to eat the sand... :)

 Now we gotta clean off!

He'd pour water into one bucket then dump it into the other bucket

Bite of banana pudding, yum!

Oh, I LOVE being this little boy's Mommy! (And he actually told me "Happy Mother's Day" too; my fave from the day!)

Suckers and Picking Out Clothes

Some cute pics of Beau and his beloved Dum-Dums. This kiddo is such a fan of suckers (when he's allowed to have them).

Tonight I let Beau pick out what jammies he wanted to wear to bed. This is what he picked. Reminds me for future reference that I'll be picking out the clothes to be worn during the day, ha! But he sure is a cutie.
